The fourth light of Advent is the light of man.
The light of love, the light of thought, to give and understand.
We spent a quiet Christmas morning getting ready for a visit from Nana and Papa. The children were thrilled with their gifts: a mushroom for E and a kip bar for e, turning our living room into even more of a gym than it already was! While the kids flipped and spun, C and I finished last-minute cleaning and cooked up a feast to enjoy with the grandparents.
The visit did not disappoint. There was much game-playing, star-gazing (Papa gifted us with a telescope!), and nature walk-taking. E still had gym, so Nana and Papa got to see him in action. We spent time on the beach, where e filled her new duct tape nature bag with treasures from the sea. Plus there was peppermint bark-making. Can't forget that.
New this year was a read-aloud of Kringle. A story of goblins, elves, pirates, a priest, and a boy. Good triumphing over evil. A light shining in the darkness, hope when all seems lost. e opted out of the beginning- it was a bit frightening- but joined us again by chapter four. We will most likely read it again next year. It's that good.
